South Carolina- Day 5- Edisto Beach State Park

Randy and I rented bikes for the rest of the week.  It was raining this morning but we went out any way.  it is a warm rain so not so bad.  I loved seeing this pelican take off flight.
Bake riding around Edisto Island.  I am really inthralled with the pelicans.  Look at them in flight, all in a row.
The bikes we rented are Cruisers.  (I am missing my gears but there are no hills around here, so we are doing good.) We next headed to Edisto Beach State Park.  It was raining but we went anyway.
These mushrooms almost grow while you are watching them.  the Park ranger said they just popped through the ground yesterday.
On the trail by the swampy ground there were little crabs all over.  They scampered as we came by.  It almost looked like the ground was moving.
We biked for almost 10 miles in the park on this wonderful trail.  It was raining but you did not feel it much because the trees covered the path most of the way.  It really was a great day for a bike ride.
Some of the foliage in the park.
This is one of 2 Indian mounds in the United States.  It is covered with lots of sea shells.  Who knows if that is what it really is.
This is a river that one of the bike trails led to.
The Environmental Conservation Center was at the end of our bike ride.  Mr. Bache was the first person to map the area in South Carolina.
We biked back to Edisto, through town, by the ocean  (it was windy and rough today) and then back to our Condo.  We did 15 miles on cruiser bikes with no gears: rainy windy weather; and 2 old people. It actually was a great bike ride.  Amazing what you do on vacation.
