Summer Road Trip Day 5 June 19

We went to church in the morning and then went and did the tour of the St. George Tabernacle. A very interesting building to see. The staircase was designed and built by Mitt Romney's great-great-grandfather. The markings on the bottom of the chairs represented that they were a little wider, so the people would come early to sit in those chair. They were just random all over the balcony. This pulpit was the one that President Snow gave the talk on tithing, if they would be faithful and pay their tithing they would prosper. And they did.

Randy chose to go to THE RED LOBSTER for his Fathers Day dinner. We have just been relaxing and having a good day here in St. George.

Bryce Canyon National Park.

Zions National Park. In the park along highway 9 there are 2 tunnels you go through. We ended up in St. George on Friday night. We went and saw the movie "17 Miracles".

Summer Road Trip Day 3 June 17

The small car is fun to travel in when the weather is good. We put down the top and really look like nerds, but have a great time.

Capitol Reef was our first park to see today. There was also an old restored farm house that was fun to explore. The landscape is so awesome, pictures do not do justice.

We hit a summit of 9,600 feet where there was still snow on the ground right by the road. Also there was a cattle drive going on. You do not get to see that when you stay on the interstate.

Summer Road Trip Day 2 June 16

You cannot go to Heber, Utah without seeing the Heber Creeper. It is a pretty cool old train. We did not ride the train because we wanted to get on down the road.

We drove from Heber, to Provo, to Springville, to Price, to Castle Dale, on down to Emery,Loa, Bicknell and stopped in Torrey to spend the night. Most of the day we could ride with the top down, but later in the afternoon we ran into a large lighting, thunder and rain storm. We saw wind farms, climbed large mountains to reach high summits, and saw lots of fun things. We just had a laid back worry free enjoyable day.

Summer Road Trip Day 1 June 15, 2011

We did our temple shift in the morning and then headed out on our summer road trip. We stopped in Logan, Utah and took the Hays family and Ashley out to dinner at Cafe Sabor. It is always great food there and always great to be with family.

Since we are in the small car it is fun to put the top down and take the back roads. We went by the Ogden Temple which is being remodeled, so it is closed down.

Beautiful scenery on the back roads in Utah. I have never been out this way on the the way to Heber, Utah.

We spent the first night in Heber.

Lily

Hillary, Lily and Bear came to visit for a few days, so Hillary could get some work done to meet her deadline for Shutterfly. It was so fun having them here.

Lily is starting to get a little bit of a smile. She is a very cuddly baby and loves to be held all the time. So I really enjoyed that.

This is Lily just after her bath.

Wednesday Night June 1st we went to Salt lake City and saw Les Miserables. Hillary, Caleb and Ashley also came along. It was a great show to see. We stayed at the Monacco across the street so it was very easy to get to and from the play. It was a great evening.
