Mexico- Friday- Day 13- 2014

This is our rental car, they get smaller every time.  This one was also a standard, but I think Randy had fun with it.  We headed south today because we were getting resort-itize.
This is just past Tulum along the ocean.  Lots of Hippie people here,  beach bums, etc.  It was pretty unique.
We kept driving south to a long peninsula and found the Sian Ka'an Reserve.  The road was horribly rutted and muddy but it was well worth t he drive.
We found a beach that was awesome.  Soft white sand and clear blue water, hardly anyone around.  A beautiful place to be.
 This is the ocean side.
 This is the Lagoon side.
Iguana between the ocean side and the Lagoon side.
From the upper deck of this restaurant we could see both the Ocean and Lagoon.  Breathe taking!!!!!
We drove back down the peninsula and headed further south.  Sights along the way.
Back in Playa del Carmen we stopped at the cemetery.  Cemeteries in Mexico are the most interesting that you can find.

Mexico- Thursday- Day 12- 2014

We started our day with a visit to the Spa and had a relaxing massage.
We rented a car again and headed to Xcaret for the night show.  The trees are growing above the sign and the roots are growing below the sign across the road.  Pretty cool.
Xcaret.  We did not do all the water activities but just came for the show.
This is the entry as we came in.  I love the pink flamingos and the colorful parrots.
We walked around before the show and saw some of the ruins that have been restored.
We also went to the aquarium.   The fish are beautiful, the octopus scaly, the jelly fish fun and the lobster creepy.  It is a great aquarium.
They had lots of displays of the coral reef also.
 Sharks and stingrays.
 Turtles
We walked out towards the ocean also.
There was a church on the property also.  A big pool of water at the bottom and benches all the way down.  Wooden figures on some of the benches that you could sit by.
The night time show THE EXTRAVAGANZA' was just amazing.  It  was held in this large building and the show was performed on the floor below the seats.  They performed their history, started out with the Mayan Indians and work towards modern day.  The performers were fabulous.
Pictures do not do justice for the great show that it was.
Things were displayed so cool on the way out also.  What a great evening.

Mexico- Wednesday- Day 11- 2014

Patty has been our Concierge while we have been here at Tres Rios.  She has been a great help in lining things up.  She even sent a bottle of wine to our room.  To bad we do not drink, but I think the maids will be glad to have it left for them.
We saw another iguana this morning.  They are so interesting to see out sunning themselves.
We went on a catamaran to do a Snorkeling Tour.
It was great when the sails were up and the wind blew us along.  It was so relaxing.
Randy took the water  camera and got some great pictures of the corral reef.
We saw lots of colorful fish.  It was a calm day and that made the water calm so snorkeling was great..
 Beautiful fish.
The water in this area is so beautiful.  These  two different colors are so gorgeous.
This was the view on our way back to the resort.  We sailed right from the dock at the resort.
Another beautiful day at Tres Rios !!!!!!!!
When we got back to the room we were greeted with some more towel art.  Our little maid is so creative.

Mexico- Tuesday- Day 10- 2014

Randy and I started the day with the Bike Tour at Tres Rios.
We biked to the Cenote's on the property.  We went to 4 different ones.  They are very deep, at least 15 to 20 feet.  The water is clear and beautiful.
We also saw some fossils and termite nest hanging in the trees.  The one picture shows a bike pedal on the ground.  The Mexican bikes are hilarious, chains kept coming off and one girls bike lost its pedal.  Only in Mexico.
More towel art left in our room again.
Next we did the Sense Tour.  They take you on a tour and blind fold you and tell you to trust them in all they do.  There are smells, sounds, water, pebbles, heat, smoke.  It was very interesting and relaxing.
We finally saw some iguanas on the property and seagulls on the beach.
The people put in long days here.  These are some of the  men working on the reforestation and this one man works all day long just racking the beach.  We saw the same man 2 years ago when we were here before.
The ocean is so pretty here.  It is so relaxing so hear the waves and enjoy the tropical breeze.
 We watched people parasailing.
We ate dinner at the Italian Restaurant.
They Chef's make the food look so pretty.

Mexico- Monday- Day 9- 2014

We had breakfast with Ricardo Figueroa and he updated us on are membership with the Sunset Group.  What a funny guy.
Randy and I went to Lapis for the Jewelry tour.  I am not much into jewelry but the tour was very interesting.
This was our tour guide.  I loved all the black walls, cabinets, mirrors and displays.
Some of the statues you could purchase.  Around $10,000.00 or $102,500.00 pesos.  The American dollar amount was large but the pesos one could really scare you.  Wow!!!
Our free gifts for doing the tour.  Our names in the Mayan symbols.
 Some glass art.
We spent the rest of the day just relaxing at the pool.  A fun little friend we found.
