Hawaii Day 14 Wednesday Feb 10

We took an airplane flight over the island with "Big Island Air". It was awsome. We covered the whole island. We saw whales in the ocean (you could see their whole body, they are huge), thousands of acres of macadamian nut trees, the volcanos, (still active and the lava flowing), lots of large water falls on the north shore, (tumbling thousnads of feet into the ocean). It was beautiful. The pictures do not do justice.
Exploring around the north to east side of the Island. Lots of interesting old churches and beautiful green sights.

Went to a Botanical Garden. The flowers and area was amazing also.

Hawaii Day 12 Monday Feb 8

We went on a Discoevery Snorkel Tour. This is the boat we went on. It was great because it only held 10 people. It is nice to go with a small bunch.
We snorkeled here at Captian Hooks Monument. We also saw a lot of whales on the way out there. It is just hard to get good pictures. So you will just have to imagine.
We also snorkeled at the Place of Refuge.
This is one of the cliffs that we passed by. In the olden days lava flowed out of the 2 holes that look like eyes. The people on the island thought it was one of thier gods during that time.

Hawaii Day 11 Sunday The Big Island

We went to church at the Kona First Ward. They were so friendly. One lady in the ward made laei's out of yarn to give to all the visitors, which was a lot of people.

Tonight we went up tp the Kahua Ranch. It is up above Parker ranch. They showed our group a good time. Max the black horse is for you. I thought you would like it. The pig is a pet that they call Piggly Wiggly. They demonstrated roping, branding, cooking samores, watching the stars through a large telescope. The sunset was beautiful from up on the mountain.

Hawaii Day 10 Big Island Feb. 6

We are at the Kona Hawaiian Resort. These are a few of the pictures outside. It is very beautifil and tropical. Each of our places are a bungalo that is decorated in the hawaiian style. Pretty cool.
We went exploring today and love to find all kinds of old churches. Here are a few examples. One of the pretiest was the Honaunau's Painted Church.
On our drive we also saw a Macadamia Nut Farm, lots of coffe beans growing in the fields, (They are famous for Kona coffee), Donkey Balls Factory, the coast line, stoped at a Open Market Place. Always fun to shop at them.
Ate dinner at Bongo Ben's outside resturant. We were facing the street while we were eating so it was fun to watch all the people walk and drive by.

Windy weather in Maui

Hawaii Day 8 Feb 4

You cannot go to Maui without eating at Mama's Fish House. It is the very best. I am not much of a fish person but I love it there.
We drove through the middle of the island today and found the 'Surfing Goat Dairy'. Quite the place. The grandkids would have loved it. Lots of fun animals and beautiful area to be in.
We found lots of different churches also. The middle of the island is very beautiful. Not commercial at all and the people were so friendly. It was a beautiful day.

Young girls dancing at the "Feast by the Sea" The weather was windy so they moved the show inside.

Feast by the Sea

We went to a Hawaiian Dinner and Show called "Feast by the Sea". But it had to be moved inside because of the wind. I have some great movie pictures of the event but have forgotten how to get them on my blog. Oh well. Just image all these people dancing.

We went to the other Mall that was close by also. Quite windy today so we did a lot of inside things.

Hawaii Day 6 Feb 2

We had an adventure today. We went down to the pool area and took a Scuba diving lesson. We learned to breathe and all the things you need to do for a small dive. Next Dave our instructor took us out to the ocean and we went in. It was raining but still a good day for scuba diving. I was amazed I could do it. You just need to remember to breathe. We saw turtles, held a octipus, saw lots of beautiful fish. I really had a good time. I was so nervous to try but I loved it. Randy had a great time also. What an adventure for us old people.
This afternoon we went to the movie "Extreme Measurers". then walked down Front Street again in Lahaina and ate at Cool Cats. It is a fun outside resturant that is upstairs looking over the street. Fun to watch all the people.
