Relay for Life

Randy and Hillary came to the Opening Ceremonies and did a lap for the cure.
Some of the "Curves for a Cure" Team members at the booth.
Luminary Ceremony. This is the highlight of the night.  You light candles and but them in bags all around the track.  You do one silent lap in memory of the peoples who's names are on the bags.  They lite up bags with the word "Cure" and it was in the stadium seats.  Also they let off  "Lanterns of  Hope"  that floated into the night sky.  It was just amazing and very moving.

Holden and Keagan watching their mother cut the cake.
Ashley sent me flowers for my birthday.  She is in Switzerland right now.
Randy gave me a new office chair and stuff  to use for a bike ride.
Thanks to every one for the birthday wishes also.

Road Trip Day 5- Helena, Montana to Rexburg, Idaho

We went to church in the Helena 5th Ward with Nannette and Grandpa Landon for Fathers Day.  Grandpa Ira Landon is 91 years old.  He is doing good for his age.
This little church with a cemetery around it, is out in the middle of nowhere.  Kind of cute to see.
Ennis, Montana.  You cannot go through Ennis without seeing the large statue of the fisherman.  There use to be a mule train replica on the cafe in town but it was gone this year.  Now they have a statue of a fish.  Things do change.

We drove over 900 miles on our road trip.  Most of the time we were able to go with the top down on the car.  We went over mountain passes, dry dessert, green forrest, and just lots of beautiful country.  We do live in a gorgeous area.  Coming from Henry's Lake area to home the wind was blowing so hard it about pushed you off the road.  Wind gusts were up to 45 miles per hour.  Only in Idaho.  We had a great time.

Road Trip Day 4- West Yellowstone, Montana to Helena, Montana

West Yellowstone is unique with the painted buffalos all over town.
Big Sky, Montana  The line of flags going up to this chapel are amazing to see.
Three Forks, Montana.  There was an article in the "Post Register" that said to stop and see this quaint town.  A cute memorial to honor Sacajawea.
The old hotel that was a  classic back in the railroad time and has been restored to a luxury hotel.  It was beautiful.  We stopped and ate lunch there.

Nannette (Randy's sister) fixed us a wonderful dinner at her house when we arrived.  Grandpa Landon opened his Fathers Day gift a day early.  It was good to visit with Nan and grandpa.

Road Trip Day 3- Cody, Wyoming to West Yellowstone, Wyoming

In Cody, Wyoming we stopped at the Cody Murals.  It is a LDS Chapel that has a large dome painted with murals of church history.  Also included are many displays about the church in the area and how it was settled. Ted and Peggy Miller, from our ward are serving a mission there.  It was their day off but they came and met us anyway.  It was so good to see them.
Next we drove down the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway.  What beautiful scenery.
We stopped in Cooke City, Montana for lunch and ate at a Small Bistro.  The owners were French and a bunch of bikers from France where there eating.  Listening to them all talk you would have thought we were in Europe.
We entered Yellowstone Park through the northeast entrance.  All the years I have lived here I have never entered the park from this way.  We were so high we went through a lot of snow, saw herds of buffalo, went from Tower to Canyon Village, and then out the park at the West Entrance.  Kind of fun to see a different part of the park.
We went to the Playmill Theater in West Yellowstone.  We saw the play "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels". It is always fun to attend there.

Road Trip Day 2- Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Cody, Wyoming

Our first stop was at Dormans for breakfast (eating out doors), the Tetons from the opposite side (beautiful this side also) and then through Grand Teton National Park
Driving through Yellowstone National Park, we saw a coyote crossing the road, several buffalo, but no bears.  Stopped at Fishing Bridge to relax, snow right beside the road, just a beautiful day.
Driving through Shoshone National Forrest.  "Smith Mansion" on the way to Cody.  Quite a story behind this house.
Dan built in 1910.  When it was built it was the tallest in the world.  Still beautiful.

Final destination Cody, Wyoming.  When you are in Cody you must go to the nightly rodeo.

Road Trip Day 1- Rexburg, Idaho to Jackson Hole, Wyoming

We left Rexburg on Wednesday June 13th and headed to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  After we got out of town we put the top down on the Mercedes and drove.  You cannot beat the view of the Tetons any where in the world.  We are very blessed to live in such a pretty area.

We went to the Jackson Hole Playhouse.  We had a great dinner and sat at the bar for our meal.  The play was "The Ballad of Cat Ballou".  It was a great play to see.  They did a wonderful job.

Road Trip- Driving the Mercedes-Rexburg to Jackson Hole to Cody to West Yellowstone to Helena and back to Rexburg

The weather has been beautiful so it is great to be traveling in the small car with the top down.  You seem to see things differently.

Bike ride with my sister

Monday I went out to Deanna's house and we rode our bikes up to the Rexburg Temple.  We do look like bugs in our helmets and glasses but had a great time.  It was a beautiful day in Rexburg.  A little exercise but the best part is visiting with my sister.

Youth Conference- Rexburg South Stake

Theme- "Arise and Shine Forth".  We started at the Stake Center with a large breakfast, did some service by cleaning there and tying baby quilts.  Then we all hiked up to the Rexburg Temple and President Leman spoke to us.  The youth wrote their testimonies on cards, attached them to balloons and let them go.  Who know where the testimonies ended up.  It was a great day.

Kinsley 11 years old 6-6-2012

Kinsley turned 11 years old this year.  She had a zebra theme this year for her party.  She got a ipod touch from her parents and was pretty excited.  The next day we had a girls day and went to the Spa for pedicures, out to lunch and shopping.  Grand kids are the best.

Summer Flowers- June 2012

The iris's are in full bloom in the backyard right now.  They are so beautiful.  These iris's are starts from a ladies home that lived behind the building where we use to grade eggs as kids.  I think her name was Sister Mitchell.  They have gone from her house to our house in the Ricks Wade addition (wiped out by the Teton Flood of 1976), but came back, moved to our  first house in Lyman, and then moved again to our next house in Lyman.  They are really hardy.  Lots of good memories with these iris.  Melanie has also started some in her yard in Logan, Utah.

Bees

We have had a problem with BEES at the 4-plex at Willowbrook.  Randy and Jaxon decided to take care of it themselves.  They had no idea there was such a large hive inside the soffits of the building.  They pulled the metal down, sprayed several times and knocked the nest out.  Literally thousands of bees were involved.  Amazing neither Jaxon or Randy got stung.  No honey was collected because of all the spray used to kill the bees.

GFWC Flowers

The GFWC Rexburg Civic Club planted the flowers at the Rexburg Tabernacle.  The city donates the flowers and our club plants them.  Sherry Archibald was in charge and did a wonderful job.  The flowers will look beautiful through out the summer.  This is an annual project the club has done for years.

Oliver and Henry in Logan

Oliver swimming at the motel pool.
Henry at the motel.  He loved swimming and sitting in the drawer in the room.
The Hays family are moving to Iowa.  We were in Logan to help them with their moving sale and we  got to tend the kids.  You cannot beat that.

The Mortensen Owl is traveling again

The "flat" Mortensen Owl is traveling again.  His first stop was in SLC but he did not get to go to the play.  Next he visited the Barney's.  Lily is feeding him breakfast.  Next he went to Logan, Utah and he is watching TV with Henry.  It is always fun to visit the grand kids.
