October Road Trip Monday Seattle to Missoula

When we went for our walk this morning we saw people sleeping in the doorways of the buildings. It makes you wonder what their life story is.

We saw a lot of wind farms along the Interstate. I think they are so interesting.

October Road Trip Sunday

We visited Rodney and Nina at the hospital this morning. Rodney was looking so good. The Doctor told him he could go home the next day. We are hoping he did.
We loaded the car on the ferry and took the Bremerton/Seattle Ferry over to Seattle. A beautiful view watching the Space Needle as you enter Seattle. We really enjoyed the ferry ride.
We took the Duck Tour around Seattle. There is so much fun art to look at. Our driver was a hoot. He really made the ride interesting.
The fish at Ivar's is something else. We enjoyed the meal so much. We are having a great time seeing the sights. It has been a rainy day but an umbrella works great.

October Road Trip Astoria to Bremerton

We stopped at the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center. We saw a movie about the eruption that happened 20 years ago. Can you believe it was that long ago? We did not drive to the actual site. To far, to wet, to windy.
It rained really hard the whole day. Pictures of Bremerton, Washington.
These are the walls of the reading room on the 2nd floor of the Harrison Hospital. The lady that did them made it out of plaster directly applied on the walls. It was so good to see Nina and visit with her. Nina said she likes to go into this room to relax. We also got to see Rodney and visit with him for a short time at the hospital. He was setting up in his chair and looked good. He gets tired very easily but is progressing. After we left he did walk around the halls. Yea!!! for Rodney. Nina met us at Anthony's later for dinner. It was so good to see and visit Nina and Rodney. I hope we did not wear Rodney out to much.

October Road Trip Saturday

Randy and I out for our morning walk. It was really raining in Astoria, so the pictures are wet and foggy. But it was still beautiful. The bridge is right above our motel.
You cannot go to Astoria without seeing the Goonies house.
Astoria Column. This was built by the railroad company in 1926. They wanted all the people in the East to know the railroad was done and to come out West. It has murals painted all the way up it summarizing the history.
More pictures of Astoria. It is such a picturesque town.

October Road Trip Friday October 8

We drove from Vancouver, Washington to Astoria, Oregon. Saw lots of bridges, over passes and tunnels. Such a beautiful area of the country. Lots and lots of trees.

Astoria, Oregon is a quaint and fun town to visit. Lots of old Victorian houses, unique boats on the Colombia River, different churches, and a fun river front area to explore.

We went on a cable car ride (actually no cables but ran by a cart they pulled in the back of the car) from Pier 1 to 39, the frontage along the Columbia River in Astoria.

The lady at the motel suggested we eat at the Gunderson's Cannery Cafe. A old Cannery that has been restored and owned by the Gunderson family for many generations. The meal was superb.

Multnomah Falls Thursday

Multnomah Falls. The water falls from the top of the mountain, down to one pool of water and then down to the next.

We hiked up to the first bridge and looked down, it was getting dark when we got there so did not make it to the top. Likely excuse, we were just to lazy.

October Road Trip Thursday 7

Thursday morning we went for a walk in Ontario, Oregon. We saw semi-trucks loaded with onions. A few fell off on the road, as you can see. We Saw lots of U-haul trucks, so can this be a business trip? Also Randy found a small truck he thinks would be great to have.
Pendleton, Oregon. We saw the wool mills, and the beautiful things they make. Also lots of cowboy things. And you have got to eat at Roosters.
The Columbia River between Oregon and Washington is beautiful; Lots of windmills, dams, wind surfers, geese, bridges. Pictures do not show the beauty.
This is a bridge that crosses the Columbia River from Oregon to Washington. A gorgeous mural on the rises of the bridge.
