The Aragon Castle of Ischia

We toured the castle.  The first fortress was built in 474 BC.  The most splendid time of the castle was the late 16th century when it hosted 1,892 families, 13 churches and 7 parishes.  It was taken over by the French, the English and the Italians.
We took the elevator to the top and saw the terrace views of the village of Ischia Ponte.  In the back ground you can see the summit of Mount Epomeo.  The water is so blue and clear and beautiful.
Nun's Cemetery-These are the draining seats which they would put the lifeless bodies on  located beneath the church.  The corpses' flesh slowly decomposed, their humours were gathered in special vases and, finally, the dried-out skeletons were heaped up in the ossuary.  This macabre practice emphasized the uselessness of the body and a simple recipient of the spirit.    Every day the nuns would congregate in prayer at this site.
